Since very young the bicycle has been my means of escape. When I was 10 years old, long expeditions to the edge of the known universe: Brookfield, IL. When 18 a rides on a tantrum with my girl friend around the neighborhood. In college, long treks off paved roads into the foothills of the Cascades in Oregon. When a geologist, long rides into and out of places like Death Valley, and long stretchs of Nevada. Before graduate school, 100 mile rides all over Arizona, with at the longest one day ride / race of 235 miles. After grad school I started getting serious, racing with friends into and out of the Salt River Canyon, and five hundred mile multi day rides. Then 3,500 miles cross country. I like to ride my bicycle... I like to ride my bike.
